Someone asked me what a "Reborn Baby Doll" is.
So I decided to show you Sophie in more detail
& explain what they are.
On Wikipedia it says:
"A reborn doll is a manufactured vinyl doll that has been transformed to resemble a human baby with as much realism as possible. The process of creating a reborn doll is referred to as reborning and the doll artists are referred to as reborners.Reborn dolls are also known as living dolls or unliving dolls."
I've been buying some clothes for Sophie to wear.
Now a little bit more about Sophie:
Face
She has individual mohair eyelashes
Painter eyebrows
Her face is painted to show viens, skin colouring & creases.
Her hair is mohair that has been rooted and fixed to the head.
Her nostrils have been opened and painted.
Her lips have been coloured and there is a hole
in the mouth for her dummy.
You can get dolls with magnets for the dummy and hair clips.
Her feet have been painted so they look like real feet.
She also has nails that look and feel just like real nails.
Her hands also have nails
You can get reborns with a full body.
You can also have full, 3/4 or 1/4 limbs.
The limbs can be fixed or jointed.
Sophies limbs are jointed so you can position them.
Sophie is weighted so she feels like a real baby when you are holding her.
It also means she can sit up on her own.
Due to the head being waited you also automatically
hold her like a baby and support her head.

ReplyDeleteJust wait till you see my new one. Jack is due today. Mine are cloth bodied ones but you can get them with real looking bodies as well. It's great.I get to dress her in beautiful clothes but don't have all the other things that go along with a baby. It also means I always have the right size baby for the clothes I want to design :-)
